Welcome to the unpredictable world of vintage furniture trading, where today's hottest chair can become tomorrow's forgotten fad!
TRND is a fast, clever card game from Oink Games where players collect matching vintage chair cards, watch what their opponents are collecting, and decide when to sell out or keep pushing for a bigger score.
šŖ How to Play
1. Build the Market
TRND contains 9 different types of cards, created from combinations of:
- 3 different chair shapes
- 3 different colors
There are 10 cards of each combination, giving you 90 main game cards.
At the beginning of the round, create an 8-card face-up Market and place the remaining cards into a draw pile.
2. Build Your Collection
Your goal is to collect as many cards as possible of one exact chair type ā the same color AND the same shape.
For example, if you're collecting a particular red chair, you want your hand to contain as many copies of that exact combination as possible.
The more matching cards you collect, the more points you can potentially earn.
3. Choose Your Action
On your turn, you generally have two choices:
Draw from the deck:
Take the top card from the draw pile and add it to your hand.
Take from the Market:
Choose one of the face-up Market cards, add it to your hand, and then discard one or more matching cards according to the current discard-pile rule.
4. Watch the Discard Pile
The top card of the discard pile determines what you can discard.
When discarding, the cards you play must match the color or shape of the current discard card.
If you can discard multiple cards of the exact same color-and-shape combination, you can discard them together.
This creates an interesting tactical decision: the cards you're throwing away may help you manipulate the discard pile and influence what other players can take.
5. Decide When to Go Out
Once your hand consists entirely of one identical card type, you can choose to go out.
Your score is based on the number of matching cards you collected.
The scoring uses the square of your matching-card count:
- 3 matching cards = 9 points
- 4 matching cards = 16 points
- 5 matching cards = 25 points
- 6 matching cards = 36 points
- 7 matching cards = 49 points
The temptation is obvious: keep collecting for a bigger score ā but wait too long and someone else may end the round first!
6. Don't Get Left Behind!
When a player goes out, the remaining players continue.
But there's a catch:
The last player remaining cannot go out and scores 0 points for the round.
So you're constantly balancing two competing goals:
Build the biggest set possible vs. go out before your opponents do.
7. Become the Trendsetter
After scoring the round, continue playing additional rounds according to your chosen scoring setup.
Keep watching the Market, predict what other players want, and try to become the player who consistently identifies the strongest trends.
