Enter a world of bluffing, deduction, secret identities, and sudden assassinations in Night of the Ninja.
Each round, players secretly belong to rival ninja Houses and draft powerful Ninja roles. You may gather information as a Spy or Mystic, manipulate the action as a Trickster, or eliminate an opponent as an Assassin or Shinobi. The catch? You don't know who is on your side.
š„· How to Play
1. Choose Your House
At the beginning of each round, players receive a secret House card representing their allegiance.
Most games feature House Crane and House Lotus. With an odd number of players, a Ronin can be added to create an unpredictable third faction.
2. Draft Your Ninja Roles
Each player receives 3 Ninja cards.
Choose one card to keep, pass the remaining cards, and then draft again from the cards you receive. You eventually keep 2 Ninja cards, with the remaining card discarded.
This means you have some control over your abilities ā but you never know exactly what roles your opponents have chosen.
3. Enter the Night
The Night phase is where the deception begins.
Ninja cards are revealed and resolved according to their different phases and numerical order. Depending on the cards you drafted, you might:
- šµļø Gather secret information
- š® Learn about other players
- š”ļø Attempt an assassination
- š Manipulate the action
- š”ļø React to another player's attack
- 𤫠Bluff about the role you're holding
Not every card has to be played, allowing you to bluff and keep opponents guessing.
4. Eliminate Your Enemies
Some Ninja cards can kill other players.
If you are killed, your House card stays hidden and your standee is knocked down to show that you're out of the action.
But you're not completely silent ā you can still talk, advise your teammates, and try to manipulate the surviving players.
5. Reveal the Houses
Once the Night is over, surviving players reveal their House cards.
The House with the highest-ranked surviving member wins the round.
Every member of the winning House receives a random Honor token, even players who were killed during the round.
6. Earn Honor and Win
Honor tokens are worth different amounts, so every successful round can bring you closer to victory.
The first player to reach 10 Honor points wins the game.
