A hungry monkey has lost his precious breakfast bean — and now the jungle animals must help find it!
Hungry Monkey is a fast, interactive card game where players race to get rid of their cards while using clever animal abilities to gain an advantage. Play cards with the same or higher numbers, trigger powerful animal effects, and carefully manage the hidden cards waiting in front of you.
🐒 How to Play
1. Set Up Your Cards
Shuffle the Animal Cards.
Each player receives:
- 3 cards in hand
- 4 cards face down in a row in front of them
The face-down cards cannot normally be looked at until a card effect allows you to do so.
Place the remaining Animal Cards in the center as the Draw Pile and prepare the Bad Kitty card according to the number of players.
2. Play Cards to the Animal Pile
On your turn, play one or more identical Animal Cards from your hand.
The card you play must have a number equal to or higher than the number on the top card of the Animal Pile.
If the pile is empty, any valid card can be played.
3. Use Animal Powers
Many animals have special abilities.
When you play a card with an effect, resolve the effect of the topmost card you played.
Animal abilities can allow you to manipulate your cards, inspect your face-down row, gain additional turns, or create other useful advantages.
4. Trigger a Gang of Four
If there are ever four or more matching Animal Cards on top of the Animal Pile, a Gang of Four is triggered.
The player who created it:
- Discards the entire Animal Pile
- Draws back up to 3 cards
- Immediately takes another turn
This can be a powerful way to get rid of a large number of cards and keep the momentum going.
5. Draw Back Up
At the end of your turn, draw cards until you have 3 cards in hand, as long as the Draw Pile is still available.
This keeps the game moving while you gradually improve your chances of getting rid of your cards.
6. Watch Out for Bad Kitty! 😼
The Bad Kitty card marks the transition toward the final stage of the game.
Once the Draw Pile is exhausted, players stop replenishing their hands.
Now the race becomes much more intense: you must empty your remaining hand before you can start playing your four face-down cards.
7. Play Your Face-Down Cards
Once you have no cards in your hand, you can begin playing the cards in your face-down row.
You won't know exactly what you're about to reveal, so every card becomes a risk!
If you reveal a card that cannot legally be played, you must take the entire Animal Pile into your hand.
8. Be the First to Empty Your Cards
The first player to get rid of all their cards — first from their hand and then from their face-down row — wins the game!
For multiple games, use the Bean Cards to keep score. The player with the most beans after the final game wins.
